Why it works
Type colour is used as a reading hierarchy, not decoration: black for the command, red for the number, grey-blue for the qualifying clause, so a reader who stops after two words still leaves with the message and a reader who stops after four still has the statistic. The proposition is built as a deadline rather than a disease - the sentence is about time elapsed, which is a thing the reader controls, so guilt is redirected into an action. Setting the whole argument on a rising diagonal against a crossed-out disc borrows the urgency of a cancellation mark; a horizontal grid would have made the same words sound clinical.
