Why it works
The image is left completely untouched and only the plinth is relettered, which is the cheapest possible way to run a second language, one set of colour stones plus a new lettering stone. Adding the parenthetical (JAVA) is a small but exact piece of copywriting, an overseas reader knows Java and may not know Semarang, so the familiar name is bolted to the unfamiliar one. Because the plinth is the only flat, unpatterned area, swapping the language does not disturb the composition anywhere else. Comparing the two editions side by side is a clean lesson in designing a layout with a deliberate swap zone.
Steal this when
Use this when one design must ship in several languages, isolate all type into a single flat block so a language change never touches the artwork. The (JAVA) tag is the move whenever a place name needs a better-known anchor beside it.
