The pattern

This still is filed under Demonstration ad.

Define

The product does the arguing. The viewer sees the thing work, not a slogan about the thing working.

Mechanism

Proof by performance. The claim is the action: a visible, testable result the reader can replay.

Verdict

We can show a result in seconds

Read the pattern

Why it works

The drawing is deliberately unfinished at the edges, so the eye is forced onto the three completed passages - the face, the roses and the flask. The two script lines sit at different heights around the head and touch nothing, which makes them read as a caption to her expression rather than as a claim being pushed at the reader. Naming the product the great fashion outsources the argument to social consensus and lets the piece avoid describing the scent, which it could not do anyway.

Steal this when

Use when the product is bought for status and its attributes cannot be described in words: state the fashion claim in a few floating words, show the buyer already in possession of it, and finish only the parts of the picture you want looked at.
